AN INJUSTICE.
gO THE EniTOR, Sir,—l beg just a small space in your valuable paper to draw attention to what. I consider a very great injustice to some of our Territorial officers. Per medium of tho press 1 saw a statement made by tho Hon. Minister of Defence that ail officers for future drafts of the reinforcements would bo drawn from tho ranks at Trcnthnm. Now, sir, is not this very unfair to officers of tho many Territorial units—men who have qualified by years of study and experience to hold, their commissions and also at a loss of much valuable time, and now, when their country is at war and they hoped ej lead their men in battle, they are turned down, despite the fact that in many cases they trained tho men who at 48 hours’ notice left the Dominion as trained soldiers for Samoa, and now they are superseded by noncommissioned officers, who in time may make quite efficient officers, but soldiers aro not trained in a day, much less officers ? They have also to put up with nasty sneering letters, per medium of tho press, taunting them with cowardice, which they have to take lying clown, as they aro "debarred by regulations from replying to them. Trusting some abler pen than mine will take this matter up and see why these officers at least do not got a trial,—l am, otc., MUSKET.
