WEST END SCHOOL.

MEETING UE COMMITTEE. At a mooting of the West End School Committee held on the 18th insC., the following were present:—.Messrs. Smart (chairman), Brokenshire, Hawker, Harduidge. and Thomson. The head teacher’s report showed that the present roll number is 472 and the average attendance for the current quarter is 443. The gymnasium is still being used as a class room for the Sixth Standard, and as the building is only half lined, there is no means of heating it artificially, th© work of this class is severely handicapped. The committee are also losing very considerable revenue, as they are unable to lot it lor entertainment purposes owing to the forms and' desks being in the way. It was decided to point out to the Education Board the disabilities under which the school is labouring, and to point out the urgent necessity for more accommodation being provided at an early date. The visiting committee reported that they had interviewed Mr. Gilbert ro the'dividing fence, and lie had promised to have same erected at an early date. The meeting then terminated.
