ITALY

AUSTRIAN BRIBES. TO ITALIAN SOLDIERS. LONDON, June 20. A Romo official report says;—Austrians delivered manifestoes to Italian soldiers by means of balloons, promising the men a crown for every rifle, COO crowns for a machine-gun, and 2000 crowns for a cannon or an aeroplane surrendered. When tho Italians crossed the Isonzo to attack Tolmino, the Bersaglieri were just over tho river when an Austrian shell destroyed the bridge. Tho Bursaglierl were confronted hy an apparently impregnable first lino of trenches, and had decided to assail them and sell their lives dearly, when the Alpini signalled from the mountain crest that the Austrian trenches were only imitations and were lined with puppets dressed as Austrians and armed with wooden guns.
