PALMERSTON SHOW.

THE OPENING DAY. PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. PALMERSTON N., June 22. The twelfth National Dairy Show opened in dull and threatening weather to-day. The display is one of the finest in the association’s history and inflects a remarkable degree of prosperity in the Dominion. In only one or two unimportant departments has there been a falling off of entries and tho products of the farm Aako a magnificent display. Judging is in progress. Tho Prime Minister attended and performed the opening ceremony. Messrs. A. Clarke and Sons having kindly lent rooms in Jubilee Villa, Currie Street, to the Victoria League, the sowing meetings will be held there every Wednesday. We are asked to state that the members of the Fitzroy Volunteer Fixe Brigade, who are organising entertain? raents in aid of patriotic funds, recently applied to the Borough Council for the free use of tho Fitzroy Hall for those functions, and received a reply to the effect that the Reserves Committee could not see its way to accede to the request, tho chairman pointing out that the rent charged is very small and hardly sufficient to cover the expenses. CAN’T BE TOO CAREFUL. Old people, and those who have weak lungs, cannot be too careful in guarding against pneumonia. It results from a cold or from an attack of influenza, butcan be prevented if Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy is-usod at-tho first symptoms of either. Many who have had every reason to fear pneumonia have warded it off hy the prompt use of Chamberlain’s Cough Remedy. Said by. .ail dealers in medicines. i. ,>
