June 19 (Note: Quotations, unless otherwise specified, are average market prices on spot):— Mutton.—The market, is firm and prices continue to advance. There is a lair demand despite the higher prices. Canterbury 7-id for beat quality light weight, heavy weight 7d; North Island 7RI for light weight, ordinary quality 7d. ewos,6£d. Lamb.—Tho market is quiet, and there is no alteration in prices for light weight; second grade 8 l-16d. ’Beef.—There is a very limited supply of Now Zealand beef available at nominal quotations. Hinds Sd, fores 7d ; chilled hinds SRI, fores 7j|d. Rutter.—The market is firm, Danish, 146 s to 1495: New Zealand, 140 s to 142 s and up to 1445; Australian, 136 a to 140.5; Siberian. 130 sto 1325: Irish Creamerv. 130 sto 1385.; Argentine, 136 s to 138 s. Cheese.—Tho market is quiet and fricef* declined further for colonial and Inited States cheese. About the beginning of the week prices declined sharply, but the market closed firmei* and the price of Now Zealand advanced Is to,2s since the day before yesterday. Canadian is quiet; white 92s to 945, coloured 90s to 925; New Zealand, improved demand, white 92s to 945, coloured 90s to 935; United States, fair demand, white 90s to 925, coloured SSs to 90s according to quality and size. Hemp.—Steady, but the demand is only moderate. The output from .Manila for tho week was 24,000 bales. It is impossible to forecast tho prospects for hemp, but I anticipate little change in values for some time. Wheat. —During last week tho market has been active, but now it is somewhat steadier. Canadian April-Juno shipment sls per quarter; American July-August 445; Argentine not quoted. Oats.—Tho market is quiet and small business is doing. Argentine Junc-July shipment 26s per quarter. Hops.—-Tho market is firmer, with an increasing demand for bolter grades. English 90s to llos, Californian 75s to 105 s. Wool.—Tlie market is strong, and prices for fino wools advanced sharply.
