At a mooting of the Canterbury Patriotic Committee it was stated that a certain local body was holding contributions to the Patriotic Fund for the relief of men from its own district. Tho chairman said it could not draw from tho central fund if it insisted on having a fund of its own. This is worth noting in view of tho fact that ,tlio Christchurch Committee is one of those which insist upon keeping their own fund for tboir own men instead of creating a national fund. If that principle were carried to its logical conclusion every little district would have its own fund, or there would bo no fund at all, because each individual might 'keep his money in his pocket to meet Iris own emergencies. “If anyone is able to convict mo of error 1 will gladly change.”—Marcus Aurelius.
