DAMAGE AT KARLSRUHE ANNOYS GERMANY.

RUSSIANS RETREATING IN GALICIA.

ROUMANIAN INTERVENTION LIKELY.

Another Zeppelin raid is reported on the east coast, which, led to fifteen persons being killed, but did no serious damage. Iho [French air raid on Karlsruhe, which probably had some important objective, did a good deal of damage, and a German message states tha'> the population of Karlsruhe arc “much embittered by such senseless procedure.'’ Zeppelin raids on Britain, which merely succeed in killing harmless civilians, are glorious achievements, but it is quite a different matter when Germany is made to suffer. To-day we hear the first news tor some time of the British force in northern France. Our men have, captured a German trench west of La Bassee. The 1 ranch continue to press their attacks in the Arras region. The news from Galicia is not satisfactory. The Russians admit that they have had to retreat on the San and that their forces near Czernowitz have had to withdraw into Russian territory. The Germans claim to have captured Mosciska, a town on the line between Przemysl and Lemberg. Italy has definitely secured the advantage of the offensive in her campaign against Austria. This should render her sale from invasion and increase her chances of success. Definite statements are made that Roumania is about to enter into the war on the side of the Allies, but these must be received with caution. Roumania has been anxious about the attitude of Bulgaria and her entry into the war would probably mean that Bulgaria would also join the Allies.
