WHY ARE THEY NOT AT THE FRONT?

TO' THE EDITOR.

Sir, —-Can you explain why many majors, captains, lieutenants, sergeants, corporals, etc., who have graced military costume with much distinction as volunteers and territorials aro still to be found at home following their ordinary occupations in a most bloodthirsty manner? When the war is over, and tilings become normal it is to be hoped that those gentlemen will be allowed, if not long retired, to wear a distinguishing uniform from those who have actually > soiled their clothes in the trendies, otherwise wo and our children will in our hearts be saluting tho wrong heroes.—l am etc..

CRAVEN.
