KILLED BY FALL OF GRAVEL. PEE PRESS ASSOCIATION. FEILDING. April 26. A fatal accident occurred at Kimbolton to-day. A. 1. Pettigrew, a very old settler and contractor, was working in a gravel pit on his own farm when a fall of gravel buried him. There was no ono present at tho time. His son who had gone with a load of gravel, onreturning found his father beneath the fall. Life was already extinct when the body was secured. ACCIDENT WITH A MACHINE-GUN HAMILTON, April 26. There was a remarkable accident at tile military camp at Morrinsvillo on Sunday. A partv of visitors were being shown round and having a machine-gun demonstrated to them. A belt of dead cartridges was being used, but inadvertently a live cartridge pot into tho barrel and went off. striking a man named Thompson on the boot, and cutting a piece out. but not injuring the wearer. Tho bnllot ricocheted ana, entered tho log of another visitor named Smith, who was admitted to tho Waikato hosnital. Apparently the bullet is still in his leg. An inquiry is being held.
