INGLEWOOD DISTRICT SCHOOLS.

THE AIOA ASSOCIATION. . At the last meeting of the Aloa School Committees’ Association, delegates from, five schools attended. _Apologies wero received from Waitui and Waiuongona. Messrs. A. Gray (technical director) and S. G. Smith (chairman of the head branch) wero present. Tho chairman brought forward a proposal wliich was briefly outlined, to further tho cause of technical education, and slewed how such could bo put into force with ultimate benefit to the youth-of both sexes. Mr. A. Gray expressed pleasure at tho proposal, stating there was no reason why it should not bo initiated, aud he promised all the help possible, because of tho .value and encouragement which would result. Ho instanced what was done at Palmerston, and also in tho South Island, and hoped the proposal as indicated would not bo allowed todrop. Mr. Cappor'(Kaimata) said ho hoped tho matter would not bo lost sight of.

A good deal of discussion centring upon tochnial education took place, aud ■Mr. Gray gave some valuable information.

The chairman stated that a number of small country schools contiguous to Inglewood had contributed £5 each towards the Technical School, and it was, under existing circumstances,, not worth Tivopence to those communities. Ho blamed the comitteos and parents, and hoped that something would bo done in the near future to remedy matters. Mrl Smith, as chairman of the executive in Now Plymouth, 'gave a very interesting resume of tho association proceedings, pointing.out that the war had a great deal to do with proycnting_.oxpansion. Several anomalies in the Education Act were touched upon. Ho ex- , pressed pleasure at the, proposal as outlined by the chairman, and elaborated by Mr. Gray, and said Inglewood district would bo forestalled by the New Plymouth end if they did not move in the matter quickly, after tho committee elections.

-Several questions relative to association matters were referred to Mr. Smith by delegates present, and satisfactory I’eplies given. Mr. Capper moved a hearty vote of thanks to Mcsrs. Gray and Smith for attending. Tho motion was duly carried.
