As far as can be ascertained, 225 horses Were burned, of a total value of about £Booo* ’ The clearing away of carcases of the unfortunate animals commenced this morning, and will be finished te-morrow morning. The carcases are being taken by a sedate tho Hauraki Gulf and dumped into the sea.
During the firm’s forty years’ operations this is the first fir* they have experienced.
