NORTH TARANAKI HUNT.
ANNEAL .MEETING. The annual meeting of the North Taranaki Hunt was lv-M nt the office, of flip secretary (Mr. E. L. Humphries'! e.n Saturday afternoon. Mr. A. R. Standish presiding over a fair attendance'Of members. ANNEAL REPORT. The annual report as published in the. Herald was adopted. RACE MEETING. Mr. A. Coleman, secretary of the Stratford Racing Club, wrote that in the event of the Hunt being granted a totnlisater permit the club ’mould be very pleased to confer with the Hunt Committee in the matter of holding its meeting on the Stratford racecourse. In view of the faets that Stratford was the geographical centre of the province and that the railway timetable* and facilities from north, south, and east were most convenient from tho public's point of view, it would appear that verv material advantages might accrue to the Hunt if. as a resuit of such a conference as was proposed, (the Hunt eventually decided to race nt Stratnfrd, Mr. A, J. Davey, Stratford, wrote condemning Wnitara as the place for the race meeting. He would prefer New Plymouth or Stratford, pariicularlv the latter, which was very convenient for a rare meeting. It was decided to forward a letter of thanks to the club for its offer, but no action was taken in the matter, it being considered premature at this juncture to decide whore the race meeting should he held, seeing that the permit had not yet been obtained. After further discussion it was decided to write to the secretary of the Hunts Association with a view to obtaining a totalisator permit for the rare meeting. It was also decided to communicate with the Minister of Internal Affairs on tho matter, urging the claims of the smaller clubs, and particularly the North Taranaki Hunt, for a permit. HATE OF ANNEAL MEETING. In aecordanre with notice of motion. Mr. M". Cole moved “that tho clave of the annual meeting he altered to the first Saturday in April, the meeting to be held in Now Plymouth.’’ Mr. W. T. Hookham seeondod. Mr; A. L. -lenuins moved as an amendment that the annual meeting he held on the night of tho first hunt of the season, the meeting to he held at Waitara. Mr. S. Paul seconded. There was a short discussion, and eventually the amendment was lost, tho original motion being carried. • GENERAL. Tho Stratford Racing Club forwarded a donation of C 7 7s towards the Hunt. A letter of thanks will ho forwarded to tho Racing Club. f The Chairman reported that the gvnikhnna which was held recently at Waitara in aid of the Belgian Fund had resulted in a profit of a little over £3O. The old rules wore rescinded and nowrules adopted. The meeting was then adiourned until the first Saturday in April, when officers will he elected.
