NEW PLYMOUTH COUNCII Tho first mooting of tho newly-form-ed council was held in Mosers. Govott and QuiUiain’s office on Wednesday night, when delegates wore present from the New Plymouth, United Service Phoenix, Albion and Warehouse Clubs. Tho Rev. A. B. Chappell was voted to the chair, and his appointment as chairman for tb© season and that of Mr. G. B. Purdue as hon, secretary, were confirmed. The ground rent was fixed at £4 for the season for each club, and it was decided that a wicket rent of os 6d bo levied against each senior town club- in championship matches. The New Plymouth, Phoenix, United Service and Albion clubs were allotted practice pitches f n the Recreation Ground, and tho Law Club was similarly granted the use of one on Western Park, Tho procuring of a suitable lawn mower for the Western Park ground was favourably considered, and the secretary authorised to arrange accordingly. The question of match matting was left over till next meeting. Mr. A. H. Osborne was unanimously elected a member of the council. The appointment of another member under rule 3 was held over. A vote of thanks was accorded Air. Quilliam for tho use of the room.
