Caillaux’s allegation that although the evidence was inadequate M. Briand had ordered M. Rochotte’s arrest. M. Do Lesle, the president of the Criminal Court of Appeal, gave evidence that ho was unaware of any political pressure, and agreed to a postponement in the interests of good justice. MADAME CAILLAUX EXAMINED. BREAKS DOWN FROM EMOTION. (Received March 23, 0.15 a,ink PARIS, March 22. Madame Caillaux, interrogated at the inquiry into the death of M. Calmette, described the great affection of herself and her husband. She associated herself intimately in all the joys and pains of M. Caillaux’s public life. 'The violent campaign against him in the press deeply troubled her. Sho had noticed animosity against herself in society. She was sickened by the abominable campaign. When the Figaro nuhli.-li-ed a letter signed ‘‘Yours Jo.’ 1 she feared two of her own private loiters written before her marriage would be published. Madame Caillaux broke down several time, and the interrogation was suspended.
