PERSONAL.

A Sydney cablegram states that Mme. Dolores is a passenger by the Ulimaroa. Miss De Cairosrego, pianist, will sail at the end of the week to join her. Mr. E. T. Holden, chief clerk in the Town Clerk’s office, is at present in the New' Plymouth Hospital suffering from appendicitis. Mr. F. H. Wilkie, of Stratford, who has been transferred to the Wanganui banch of the Bank of Australasia, left on , Monday for his new home. Mr. Holman, Now South Wales Premier, was accorded a civic reception at Wellington to-day. He was entertained at luncheon by the New Zealand Club.

Messrs. Colin and Harold Stockley, old New Plymouth hoys now of Sydney, are re-visiting, the town after an absence of many years. Both of them severed their time as printer’s apprentices in the Taranaki Herald Office.

At,the meeting of the High School Board on Monday, Mr, W. Bewley was granted leave of absence during his coming visit of nine months to England. Mr. L. M. -Monteath will act as secretary during Mr. Bewley’s absence.

Mr. R. H. Espiner, formerly of Wanganui College, joined the staff of the New Plymouth High School at the beginning of the term as a resident master. Mr. T. Buxton has taken charge of the commercial classes in the school.

The following changes in the staff of the Post and Telegraph Department are notified;—Mr. J. J. Pickett, chief postmaster, Thames, is to succeed Mr. W. H. Renner, chief postmaster, Gisborne, who is about to' retire. Hr. P. P. White, postmaster, Hamilton, will fill the vacancy at Thames. Mr. J. T. Wylie, postmaster, Marten, will succeed Mr. White at Hamilton. Mr. R. A. Bayliffe, postmaster, Wairoa, will succeed Mr. Wylie. Mr. J. J. Francq, postmaster, Fairlie, is to he transferred to Picton. Mr. W. Canning, postmaster, Ohakune, is to succeed Mr. France.
