MONTHLV AI FETING. ‘ The ordinary meeting of tho Board of Governors of the New Plymouth High Schools was held in tho secretary’s office on Aionday afternoon. Tho Chairman (Air. E. Dockrill) presided, and other members present were Ale&srs. W. N. Ewing. Ci. Grey, 1). Hutohon, 11. Eyre-Kenny, and Dr. E. F. Eookes. At tho last meeting the secretary reported that Alcssivs. It. Eyfe-Kenny and G. Grey retired from the board by rotation, and the meeting forwarded the names of those gentlemen *io tho Alinister, recommending their re-ap-pointment. Tho. Alinister now wrote back that, according to his records, Alters. K. Dockrill and AI. Fraser and Dr. E. F. Fookcs were the members who should retire. Tho secretary explained how the mistake had occurred, and the previous resolution was rescinded and the names of the latter gentlemen recommended for re-appoint-ment. Air. Ewing again called attention to tho necessity of repairing and painting tho school “buildings. Ho said the work must be done during the holidays, and should be authorised at that meeting. Tho finance committee.was empowered to authorise all necessary repairs and painting at both schools. A lengthy discussion (reported elsewhere) took place on the building requirements o£. tho Boys’ and Girls’ Schools.

Tho Secretary reported that four squads of cadets would be competing at the Auckland tournament and would travel in charge of a master, who would receive his train fare and other expenses, but who would necessarily be out of pocket over the visit. The board agreed to recoup the master for any expenses he might incur, and for this purpose voted £5 towards tho sports fund.

Accounts amounting to £366 9s 2d, of which £IOO 12s 3d was incurred in connection with the boarding establishment, wore passed for payment.
