FURTHER RESULTa .PER PRESS ASSOCIATION. WELLINGTON. Nov. 13. To-night the competitions were better patronised than they were previously, the Town Hall being well filled. Au interesting programme was gone through, including dances and a .grand choral contest. The latter was won by Feilding. against three other choirs. Results:— ( Mezzo-soprano solo —test either “Er Dor Herrlich Stem von Allen” (Schumann) or “tm Horbst” (Eranz): Miss Margaret Wilson 1, Miss Aland© Pitcher (Dunedin) 2. Bass solo, test ‘*Sou of Mine”: .Frank Tunley, 113 points 1; Arthur Watts (Onehunga), 112 points, 2; Fred Graytoii. 110 points. 3. Song, lady, own selection, not humorous, only for competitors residing in the Wellington province during the last eighteen months: Mrs. jvo S,vines 1, Miss Margaret Wilson 2. Highland Fling, under 1.6: William Rogers 1, Mary Reid 2, Ino Rogers, 3. Graceful Dance, girls under 16; Miss Wyonno Haybittle 1/Thurza Rogers 2, Peggy Reeves 3. Recitation for ladies, te-st, either “The Dream” (Byron), or “Break, Break. Break”' (Tennyson): Paulino Brown (Otnki) L Lilian Pochard (Melbourne) 2. Flora M‘Donald 3. Prepared speech, ladies or gentlemen (choice of three subjects); Henry Morton (Wanganui) 1. L. W. Hanlon.-, Ernest Luks 3. Grand contest. (a) test “By Babylon’s Wave (Gounod), (b) own selection (secular); maximum 60 voices: Fcilding, test 15’-, glee 156, 1; Auckland, 139, 141, 2; Wellington Glee Club. 129, H 9,3; Wellington Amateur Choral Society. 107, 110. 4. The Dominion says that the chief attraction on "Wednesday night was the church choir contest. There were onlv two entries, each choir consisting of 25 voices. The first prize consisted of a silver challenge shield, presented by Charles Bcgg and Co., and £25. and the second pme was £lO. *'i?. c ? n ~ tenants were the Fcilding Wesley Choir (conductor. Mr. Temple White), and the Grafton Road Methodist Choir. Auckland (conductor, Mr. E. A. Gatlaml). There were throe tests, each choir being required to sing, “The Sun Shall be no More” (Woodward), the hymn.* “Abide wit It Me.” and their'own selection, that chosen bv the Teliding choir being “Weary Wind ol the West.” while Auckland’s choice waA “The Parting Kiss,” The latter suffered from faulty intonation and flatness, but they made better effects the hvmn.
