EXPLORING VESUVIUS. BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.—COPYRIGHT ROME, Sept. 15. Professor Malladra and two companions descended 1290 feet into tho crater of Vesuvius and found inside tho funnel at tho bottom of tho crater an enormous fiery cavern. They lost their thermometers through tho ’ steel rope fusing. Previous to tho mishap tho thermometers registered 626 degrees Fahrenheit.
