NEW ZEALAND COMPETITIONS’ SOCIETY. Tho Now Zealand Competitions Society's third annual festival commences at Wellington on November 3. It bids fair to bo the biggest thing of its kind ever held in New Zealand. Entries are being received from every corner of tho Dominion. As proof of the interest evinced in the festivals of this society, the indications are that next year the famous Blackstonc-Ips-wich Cambrian Choir, Queensland —several times the champion choir of Australia—will be competing. Outside competitors coming to Wellington to take part in this great educational movement receive holiday excursion rates on the railways. Tho prize-list has been substantially increased: £750 cash prizes and trophies havo been allotted, including a £l3O Grand Chappell Piano, .for the winner of tho Champion Piano Solo. Text books containing full particulars are obtainable from the secretary, Mr. James Dykes, Box 625, Wellington. Entries close on September 30. No doubt this district will be well represented at New Zealand's National Eisteddfod.

MILD DERBY satisfies the exacting smoker, for it is not too heavy nor too light. Fragrant, cool, and satisfying. Try a plug or a-tin. 4
