Mr. J. J. Craig and a number of influential residents of Auckland have organised a syndicate to drill for oil on a largo block of land behind the producing wells at Motnroa. Tlio property is close to tho refinery of tho Taranaki (Now Zealand) Oil Wells, Ltd., and it is stated that the prospectus will bo - in print during tho next fortnight. Being unaware that tho official opening of tho refinery has been postponed for a week, a number of telegrams have' (been received from tho Gisborne district conveying best wishes for a successful function. As our readers aro aware, the refinery will be opened on Monday next.
