ALLEGED CUSTOMS FRAUDS.

BY MOTOR FIRMS. BY ELECTRIC TELEGRAPH.—COPYRIGHT. LONDON, July 19. Tho case in which an Australian motor-car firm is charged with defrauding the Customs' by understating the value of cars imported, has opened. Alfred Kemsley was absent, and there is little probability of his ever being able to attend. Mr. Pulton, counsel for tho Commonwealth, in a four hours’ address, alleged that tho firm of Tozer, Kemsley and Fisher persuaded certain English manufacturers to falsify invoices. These were passed on to .the Kemsley Company Proprietary, who in turn sent them to Australia. Tho Kemsley Proprietary controlled all tho agencies for the principal cars in the Commonwealth. Counsel explained that tho proceedings were taken in Australia. The case was adjourned for a week.
