The sale of Lord Holden’s collection at* Christie’s, including many well- : known examples of Victorian artists, was characterised by a sensational fall in value. Landseer’s “Otter Hunt,” ' for which £IO,OOO was originally paid, realised 1200 guineas. Clarkson Stan- , field's I ' “The Walls of Old England” brought 160 guineas, against its originar price of 3700 guineas. Pictures : by Alina Tadema, Front, Rosa Bonheur, and many others also greatly depreciated in value.
