POLITICAL NOTES?
WORK FOR THE WEEKSOME IMPORTANT BILLS. BY TELEGRAPH.—OWN CORRESPONDENT. WELLINGTON, July 21. The House, during the coming week, will probably be engaged on a number of Government Bills, and it is expected that the Financial Statement will be delivered early next week. It is anticipated that the Police Force Bill will give rise to considerable discussion, as the debate will open the way for further criticism of the action of the Government in connection with, the Waihi strike, tho police association and the transfer of a constable, who took a prominent pan in connection with the formation of the association, , from Auckland to other parts of the Dominion. Another Bill which will probably give rise to considerable discussion is the Magistrates’ Courts Bill. Whilst, tho raising of magistrates’ salaries may .not meet with objection, the proposal to standardise thorn is not favourably viewed by some Opposition members, who urge that the services of all magistrates are not of equal value.
