PROTEST TO MINISTER. SYDNEY SUN SPECIAL CABLE. NAPIER, July 21. The Napier branch of the Education Institute passed a resolution: “That this branch learns with extreme dissatisfaction that the Minister of Education has-doclardd his intention of not introducing legislation this session for tho purpose of increasing teachers’ salaries and improving teaching conditions. Seeing that teachers at present are ygry much underpaid, and in view of the fact of tho increase of work duo to new schemes of physical culture and medical instruction, and the everincreasing demands made upon teachers’ efficiency, the branch is of opinion tho just claims of the teaching pro-, fession have been ignored, owing to the moderate manner in which they have been urged, whereas tho more insistent, though not more deserving demands of other bodies of men, have been acceded to.”
