HEART FAILURE,

At the inquest on the body of Ida Catherine Becker, aged 20 years, who died at the Upper Junction on Sunday, the evidence showed that death was due to heart failure, following on an attack of influenza. DEATH FROM SUFFOCATION. DUNEDIN, July 1. The evidence at the inquest on Eric Walker, aged 24 years, who died at St. Kilda on Sunday, showed that the larynx was practically blocked by a swelling into which hemorrhage had taken place. A verdict was returned that death was due to suffocation, caused by a growth in the larynx. FATAL SHOOTING ACCIDENT. AUCKLAND, July 1. Word has been received Dy the Superintendent of Police in Auckland that this morning a farmer named Albert Frost had been found dead at Pukekawa, in the Mercer district, un(Ber dircumstanoes that suggested that he had been accidentally shot. Frost was 33 years of age, and married. GOLD MINER KILLED. - - 1 HOKITIKA, July 2. Francis Carmine, aged about 55, owner of tho Coronation sluicing claim, Goldsborough, was killed by a fall of earth in the face this morning. Tho body was immediately recovered, but death must have been instantaneous. Deceased was a very popular resident. Ho had a grown-up family. POISONED BY COAL GAS. WELLINGTON, July 2. James W. Dobsou, butcher of Island Bay, and fiis wife were found unconscious in bed at 6.30 this morning, their condition being due to an escape of gas in the passage outside their room. They were removed to the hospital and are still in a critical condition.
