TARANAKI’S EARLY, HISTORY. (From ■ Taranaki Herald. 1863.) Tuesday, June 30.—The evacuation of Tataraimaka for a second time took place to-day .and was effected skilfully and rapidly under the superintendence of Lieut.-Colonel Logan. 57th Regiment. Everything of value was brought away or burnt, and the redoubt left standing. The troops halted at Oakura.. Some changes will be made in the location of the several companies of the 57th, and ajportion will come to town. We are informed that the following appointments have been made in the*’ garrison:—Colonel Warre, C. 8.. 57th Regiment, colonel on the staff and commander of the troops in this province (Lieut.-Colonel Logan now consequently commands the 57th); Lieut, and Adjutant C. M. Clarke, 57th Regiment, Dept.-Asst. Quartermaster-Gen-eral; Lieut. Brulton, 57th Regiment, Garrison Adjutant; Lieutenant Thompson getting the Adjutancy of the 57th, Regiment. We also hear that Major Miuoclt will get the Lieut.-Colonelcy of the 70th Regiment,- in consequence of tho promotion of Colonel Chute. Sir George Arney, Chief Justice, who ■ came down in the. Airedale, opened the Supreme Court to-day, tho Masonic Hall having been taken for the purpose. The Harrier, from Manukan, arrived to-day, but put to sea in consequence of the threatening state of the weather.
