BIG GERMAN LINER.
' IAIPERATOR’S TRIALS. BERLIN, Juno 19. Despite a heavy fog and the stormiest weather, the new German liner, the Iraperator, ran at an average'speed o! 21.13 knots an hour during her trials to-day, and did 93.5 knots over a measured distance. She was easily managed in the big sea that was running, and her capacity for quick manoeuvring was generally acknowledged. The dimensions of the now HamhurgAmerika liner, as given officially, show that she is 6933 tons larger than the White Star Co’s. Olympic. She measures 9ft, between tho decks, and has a capacious lounge, 72ft. by 58ft,, the ceiling of which is without any visible supporting pillars. The swimming pool, with its ornamental waterfalls, is one of tho big ship’s 1 most luxurious appointments. Although of larger tonnage than the Aquitania, the. Imperator is not so long'as the now Cunarder. particulars recently published in tho Sun concerning tho three largest liners in the world gave their dimensions as follow:
Tho Imperator has a gross tonnage of 50,000, has 11 docks, and her dead weight, exclusive of engines, boilers, and cargo, is estimated at 77,000,0001 b, or 20,000,0001 b. more than a fully equipped Dreadnought.
