EXPORT OF GOLD AND SILVER. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Way 2. During the month of April 19,216 ozs. of gold, valued at £73,976, wore exported from New Zealand, as compared with 35,519 ozs., valued at £140,552, for the corresponding month last year. For tho four months this year the export of gold was 109.788 ozs., valued at £435,958, as against 136,895 ozs., valued at £542,432, for the.sanio period last year. During the same period 358,168 ozs. of silver, vahied at £37,355, were exported, compared with 357,310 ozs., valued at £36,321, for tho four months last year. CANCELLED REGISTRATION. DUNEDIN, Way 2. The cancellation of registration of the Otago Trades and Lai or Council has no sinister significance, being made, necessary by the fact that under the constitution they arc unable to use their influence and the union funds in aiding the political side of the harbour programme, even though the unions are willing. A Gisborne Sheep Farmers’ Frozen Meat Company has decided to form an auxiliary company with a capital of £150,600 to take up the commercial and financial business. Tho first subscription will be limited to £40,000, and the shares will be open to tho public, but jireference will bo given to bona fide farmers. GAMING CHARGES. WELLINGTON, Way 3. In view of tho Magistrate’s decision yesterday in the gaming charge against Kettlewell, which was dismissed, tho police to-day withdrew a similar charge against Andrew Martin. Counsel for defendant commented severely on the action of some xmrson in swearing art information that defendant was a book.maker when, as a matter of fact, he had never made a bet in ins life. Counsel asked tho Magistrate to forward his representations to the Justice Department. Other cases were adjourned till Monday.
