The Crown case iu the alleged maternity bonus fraud is that in seventeen specified instances two nurses cither made claims where there was no birth, or claimed whore the mothers did not intend to claim. Some cases were registered of supposed births over and over again. Regarding Dr. Erson, bo admitted that he signed bonus forms in blank at the request of the nurses, but denied doing so wholesale. Of fifty birth certificates ho forwarded to the Registrar he had attended only twentythree.
