MIRACULOUS ESCAPE.
A young girl had a terrible experience on the Woodville to Masterton train on Monday morning.' t Travelling early' .to school -two girl friends from Hanncc.vilKK were in one of Urn carriages,, anti having’shuu n her ticket, mm went oir to the platform. Her friend, Ivy Jonsou, followed her and thinking the gate was shut she leant back". Tho train was travelling along at about, 30-miles an hour. .Mr. EhPrhard, of, Palmerston, who was in’the carriage, says ho jumped up in a terrible scare as ho saw the, young girl fall out backwards, twist over and disappear. The guard was in the carriage and he darted back to the van and app’icd tho brakes. The train soon eamo to a stop and was backed to the scene of the accident. ' '
Tlio girl vi'ns found lying on her face beside tlic line. She was put on board ilie train, and at the' next station Maslerton was cr.mnninicated 'with. .At Master ton a doctor was awaiting her arrival on the platform, and she received medical attention. She had fallen on the back of her''head and was unconscious, but it was expected she would recover.
