SKATING.

GLIDEAWAY RINK. Beginners have evidently taken to heart the advice of the popular management of the Glidcaway Kink, Coronation Hull, to learn skating now, at the' commencement of the season, for the floor has lately been crowded with beginners, who, beyond realising that there’s many a slip ’twist skates and floor, have made, wonderful progress. Special sessions for learners are held every evening from 6.15 to 7.15, when eresry attention is paid to novices. On Thursday the prizes Won at the opening carnival will be presented. There will be a four-lap race, for which a pair of military hair-brushes will be awarded. There promises to bo a crowd quite as large as that on tji'e opening night and on Monday, when there was a very large attendance. The band will be present and should add greatly to the interest of the proceedings both for the spectator and the skater. The rink will be open as usual every afternoon and evening from 2.30 to 5 add 7.30 to 10 p-m. The management intend starting basket-ball.
