EGMONT LODGE, No. 112

The weekly session of the Egmbht Lodge was presided over on Monday evening by the C.T. with a good muster of officers and members. » , The secretary of the Grand Lodge Reception Committee reported that a balance on the credit side would remain as a result of tho recent session, which amofmt was handed over to the hall trustees as a donation to their funds.

Bro. G. A. Hayden resigned his position as secretary of the hall committee on account of his leaving the district. The resignation was received with regret. The democratic voters’ campaign was reported on by Bro. G. H. Maunder as meeting with splendid support from voters.

The Snowflake Lodge No. 150, Eitham, are holding a concert in the Eltham Town Hall next Friday evening to raise funds to supplement the Grand Lodge organisation fund. The business of the evening set down as election of officers was held over until, next week. A social evening was held, invitations being extended to friends to afford an opportunity for members to bid farewell to Bro. G. A. Hayden, who is leaving this town to take, up a position in Feilding. The lodge will sorely feel the loss of this brother, who has ably filled the positions of Chief Templar, secretary of hall committee, and also secretary to Grand Lodge reception committee. It was by his efforts to some great extent that the Grand Lodge session was such a success. Sister Mrs. Douglas spoke on behalf of the W.C.T.U. Bros. G. W. Hartnell, Rev. R. J. Liddell and 6. H.„ Maunder also spoke. The following programme was submitted:— Pianoforte'' duet, Sisters A. and 1 8. Legg; recitation, Sister B. Connett; solo, Miss A. H a yden; recitations, Sisters B. Legg and L. Lamerton. The accompaniments were played by Sister A. Legg. Bro. G. A. Hayden replied suitably to the speakers’ comments. Refreshments were handed round by the sisters. The session closed at 9.45 p.m.
