PRAYERS FOR CHINA.
GENERAL THROUGHOUT BRITAIN By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. (Received April 29, 8 a.m.) , LONDON, April 28. The Archbishop of Sydney (Dr. Wright), preaching in Westminster Abbey, said that China, which had shut her doors on Christianity and martyred missionaries, appealed to Britain to turn to God in prayer for her people. They could not refuse the appeal. At a devotional “service at the Chinese Legation, Chinese students offered prayer and the hymn “Rock of Ages” was sung. Lord William Cecil pronounced the Benediction. At 10,000 Sunday schools, with 2,244,608 teachers and scholars, there were prayers for China.
