A collection will bo taken up. in aid of. the 'band,funds,/ and; as tjjey will'give a real; good programrao it is hoped that. the response will be liberal. There has been a great deal said about having a rotunda and not a, band to play in. it. -The present occasion will give everybody an opportunity, of showing whether, ,they want a band, or not. It must b© borne in, mind that, a band cannot be. run sucwithout a very considerable expense; and: it is not .a, fair-thing/to expect bandsmen to give their time free to practice and then pay expenses, out of their own pockets.: If the townspeople ; want to, hoar a band—and then? is no doubt that a great many of them do-i----then let the collection boxes tell the story when they are: opened. . The weather continues dry. A south wind is blowing at present and eyes and mouths are constantly being filled with dust and grit. Most of the shop doors are being Tiept closed. That water-cart that is coining would have been very welcome indeed to-day. However, good work, was done by the borough foreman with the hose. A wedding took place in the Presbyterian Church on Friday afternoon, the chief persons concerned being Miss May Curtis and Mr, G. P. Kitson, of Nelson. Mr. and Mrs. Kitson have gone to stay at the bridegroom's home > for a short time, after which they will take up their residence at Groytown.
