Under Lord Derby’s chairmanship three hundred delegates of the Lancashire Unionists’ Association discussed tho party differences behind closed doors, and then adjourned until January 11. Lord Derby said that the differences could he adjusted. The Glasgow Herald says that if the Imperial conference expressed a wish for preference to be granted in other form than food taxes the Unionist Government must seek another way. Most Unionists would prefer that. The Irish Times says that Lord Lansdowne and Mr. Bonar Law have decreed that the general election will bo fought on tariff reform, not Homo Rule. The leaders had queered the electoral outlook, which had changed from a certainty to a very alarming uncertainty.
