ENTERTAINMENTS.
THEATRE ROYAL PICTURES. Tho pictures will not be showing in tho Theatre Royal this evening owing to other bookings. To-morrow night the pictures will again occupy the hall, when a complete new programme will be shown, including a fine Ambrosio masterpiece, “The Bowstring,” a story of ancient Rome, magnificently photographed and superbly mounted. The comic, dramatic and; scenic pictures are also of the first order. EMPIRE PICTURE PALACE. There, was a large attendance at the Empire Picture Palace last evening to view' the new series of motion picture gems. An exceptionally interesting film was “Life with a Circus.” Tho elephants, horses, camels, zebras and animal waggons presented a vast concourse of animated bustle and business, all controlled with a wonderful skill in their dispositions. The circus was indeed an eye-opener, and would make even the largest show that has visited Now Zealand look a very small affair. The dramatic studies were excellent, in particular the Lubin subject “Honor thy Father,” and a Rex moral drama, “Eyes that see not.” “A trip on River Tamar,” Havana Harbour,” and the Gaumont Graphic were all popular items. The orchestra qdded to the enjoyable evening with a brilliant programme of selected musical numbers.
