At the annual meeting of the National Mutual Life, Association,'- the Chairman referred to the satisfactory results of the year’s transactions, which showed new business to the amount ,of £3,593,000 and a record income of £1,284,000 more than in ; the previous year. Over £520,000 had been paid to policy-holders and £539,000 added to the. funds. Tho rate of interest earned was £4 14s 4d per cent. ■ The report was adopted and the retiring directors re-elected. - A PROSPEROUS YEAR. Per Press Association. WELLINGTON, Dec'. 18. Mr. Orton Stevens, manager . of the National Mutual Life, has received the following cable from Melbourne: “The forty-third-annual meeting was held today, and members are to be congratulated on the splendid results for the year, which’is a record one for the association. New business amounts to £3,593,000, being £150,000 increase over last year. The total premiums ■were showing an increase of £58,000. The interest received was £1320,000, the hate of interest earned being higher than, last year. Notwithstanding the large amount of new business, the expenses of management are lower than any previous year. The total |iinds now stand at £7,291,000. !
