Mrs. Pethick Lawrence, addressing representatives of suffrage societies, said that they must be prepared to smash and be smashed. “We must,” she added, "be prepared, if necessary, to break and destroy.the material substance of life, and acquiesce it the material substance of our life is destroyed.” MORE POST BOXES DAMAGED. (Received Deo. 19, 10 a.m.) LONDON, Dec. 18. An extensive attack has been made on pillar boxes at Deptford, Lewisham, Putney, Forest Gate, and in the City. Three arrests have been made. Franklin, a male suffragist, has been charged with setting fire to a Great Central train at Harrow. Slight damr age was caused.
