TARIFF REFORM.
UNIONISTS DIVIDED. ON SUBJECT OF FOOD DUTIES. By Electric Telegraph.—Copyright. (Received Dec. 19, 10 a.m.) LONDON, Dee. 18. The Times states that- a large section of the Unionists is averse to food taxes, preferring a referendum. A smaller section, estimated at thirty or forty per cent., favour tariff control by the party machine. Lord Curzon, speaking at York, Said the supreme duty of the Unionist Party was to sustain the attack on the Government, rather than publicly to discuss what wheat or corn duty should he imposed at some future unknown date.
