A grocer giving evidence before the Cost of Living Commission, asked whether he had ever been refused supplies !}y merchant, said one firm had stopped his supplies because he sold too cheaply. The goods were proprietory medicines and other articles. The firm was Fairbairn, Wright and Co. It was about a year ago. The firm stated that customers were complaining of. undercutting. , Another of the fortnightly euchre parties- was held in the Westown Hall on Thursday night. There was a good ■ attendance of the public, who thoroughly enjoyed themselves. Mrs. Autridge won the ladies’ first prize with 16 games and Mrs. Lobb the second with 12 games, after playing off with Mrs. H. Wallath and Miss Wills. Messrs Vursted and Sarten tied for the gentlemen's prizes.' Mf. Vursted won the play off. After supper dancing was enjoyed to music applied by Mrs. Lander (piano) and Mr. Putt (violin).
