HOCKEY.

THE NORDEN CUP. Per Press Association. MASTEBTON, July 11. In the Norden, Cup hockey match, played to-day, Wairarapa retained the title by defeating Poverty Bay representatives by 5 goals to nil. The weather was not favourable, rain falling during the game. The ground was wet and soft. The visiting forwards were good at times, but were unable to pierce the defence of AVairarapa, whose backs were very sound. In tho first spell Wairarapa notched two goals, scored by Fisher and Tunnicliffc. In the second spell Poverty Bay.were outclassed; three ; goals being scored lor the home team 1 by fisher and Smailo. The Poverty Bay goalkeeper received a nasty hit from a ball and loft the field. The home-team played an excellent-game. The visitors, excepting the forwards, played poorly. Final score; AA’airarapa o goals, Poverty Bay nil.
