Tho new Lord Mayor, in outlining his policy, follows his predecessors’ scheme of resumptions and remodelling the city of Sydney, which must maintain its reputation by becoming an ideal city. The, Lord Mayor proposes to burrow another £2,000,0.10 for the purpose. He believes that ail public services should be municipalised, and tile iinaneial benefit thereby derived from trams and ferries devoted to the improvement of streets in the. city. The council should build ami lease theatres, which might to be open on all sides and stand hack from the side-walks, thus obviating queues and the blocking of traffic.
