(From Our Own Correspondent.) June 3.—On May 31 the School Committee held a euchre party and dance, tlie proceeds of which are to go toward erecting a shelter shed for the children. Despite the rough night there was a good attendance, including several friends from Choke. Miss L. Hutchens won the ladies’ first prize, and Mrs. Cook the second, after playing off a draw; Mr. Ek'dahl won the men’s first prize, and Mr. J. Whittaker the second. The committee wish to thank Master L. Jones, of Okoke, for supplying the music for the dance. On Sunday night we were visited by a rather sharp shook of earthquake at about six o’clock, but there was no damage done, except giving the settlers a fright. . . ....
