Tho Presbyterian Assembly adopted a resolution hoping that the day was not distant when the New Hebrides would be entirely under British control. Professor Maclntyre declared that the present dual control was hopeless. AN UNFOUNDED RUMOUR. (Received May 11, 10.30 a.m.) MELBOURNE, May 11. Mr. Fisher discredits tho rumours of France’s intention to cede the New Hebrides to England in exchange for compensation elsewhere. Official information he has received dees not mention such an intention.
