ILLEGAL OYSTER TAKING.
A FINE IMPOSED. Per Press Association. AUCKLAND, May 10. A large trawling launch, owned by John Endean and Maurice O’Connor, valued at £BOO, was seized by the Fisheries Department in consequence of its having aboard four bags of oysters, the character of which denoted that' they had been taken' from closed beds at AVaiheke. The launch, at the time, was on a fishing excursion with twelve or thirteen persons' on board. The master of the vessel denied knowledge of any oysters having been brought aboard. The magistrate said he would impose a fine of £6, sufficient to enable the owners to take the case to a higher court if they desired.
