TARANAKI ASSOCIATION. A special meeting of the delegates of the Taranaki Hockey Association was held in the Council Chambers on Wednesday evening, when there were present: Messrs. Ralph (Waitara chib), in the chair, M. Harris (Inglewood), Burdekin (Eltham and Hawcra) and Avery (New Plymouth and Kaponga). The motion of the Eltham club, of which notice had been given, to change the headquarters of the association from New Plymouth to Stratford or some other central place was fully discussed. Mr. Burdekin said his club felt that the expense of sending a representative to the meetings in New Plymouth was too heavy, ana that it was not from any personal feelings that the motion had been passed, it was pointed out, however, that the train service would not suit New Plymouth and other northern towns, f mouth and other northern delegates at all, whereas the present service was most convenient to southern delegate's. Another point in favour of New Plymouth was that hockey had thrived , in Taranaki only since the association’s headquarters had been fixed here. At previous times the headquarters had been located at both Hawera and Stratford, but for several reasons neither place was suitable. Eventually, on Mr. Burdekin’s motion, it was decided that the headquarters be retained at Now Plymouth, and that meetings of the association be held alternately in New Plymouth and Eltham, and that delegates’ expenses be pooled, each club to bear its proportionate share. Mr. J. E. Avery was re-elected secretary, and a motion was passed that the association place on record its hearty appreciation of his past services. The secretary of tho New Zealand Association that Taranaki’s challenge against Wellington must bo played by June 8. Through waiving their claim late last season, tho local association lias tho right" of the first challenge this year, and so the New Zealand Association has fixed the date early accordingly. The delegates considered the date too early, as they have not yet had a chance to choose their team. The secretary was instructed to write to the controlling body pointing out tho lateness of tho season in Taranaki, and asking for a postponement of the Wellington challenge until July 20. It was also decided to enter a team for tho Norden Cup, and if possible, play Mannwatu at Palmerston North on July 24. A trial match, North v.
