■ (From Our Own Correspondent.) A very sad accident happened at the Timani Creamery on Friday last. Mr. Shogren’s little son, who was just over two of age, fell into the race Wind was washed to tho river and drowned. Ho was only out of his mother’s sight lor a minute or two. It is thought that in going over the fall into tho river the child struck his head and was killed instantly. The inquest was held on Saturday, the coroner bringing in a verdict of found drowned. The funeral took place on Sunday, and was very largely attended by tho settlers from all around. Mr. Shogren is much liked by all suppliers to tho creamery, and both he and his wife are highly respected. Tho little fellow was in the habit of running out to meet his father when he came up with tho cream waggon. He ran out on this day. hut instead of his father it was the baker’s waggon. His mother came after him at once, but ho had disappeared, and no one can tell how the accident happened. Tho butcher had only just served the mother with meat and carried the child into the house. The little boy was a favourite! wi(bh all that called. The butcher found him at tho fill into the river. The parents are nearly distracted, as he was their only boy. They have only one little girl about seven years of age, and I can only say they have tho sympathy of tho whole district around in their sad bereavement. Their old friends who knew them when ho was with West ami drove* tho ’bus to Fitzroy will no doubt be very sorry to hear of this sad affair.
