THE GRAND LODGE. Por Press Association. DUNEDIN, -May S. At the Masonic Grand Lodge, in ills address, the new Grant! Master reviewed the? position ol various funds, Stating that tile cash balance to-day was *27,3«5, as against £72 in LS'JI, at the end of the Grand Lodge's first year. All amendment of the constitution was adopted, prm iding for ttic appointment ol grand lecturers. At the evening sitting the row Grand Master was installed and announced I)is. appointed officers as fellow: Deputy Grand Master, R.W. liro. Nash (Palmerston North); Junior Grand Warden, RAV. Bro, J. A. Frost (Christchurch). Tho officer* elected in tho afternoon wore invested. MASONICINSTALLATION. MOUNT KGMONT LODGE. There was a largo gathering of Freemasons from all parts of the district at St. -Mary’s Hall on Wednesday night, the occasion being the installation of Bro. William Lints as Worshipful Master of Mount Egmout Lodge, No. 670. E.C. This lodge was established in 1853, and next year will celebrate its diamond jubilee. The gathering was a representative one. among other distinguished visitors being Wor. Bro. 0. W. Palmer (Wanganui), Deputy l District Grand Master. Tho Grand Lodge of Ireland was represented by Rt. Wor. Bros. J. Ellis, Past Prov. Grand Master, and Brooking, P.P.G.M., and '■Hammond, P.P.G.S AY. Apologies wore received for the absence of the Provincial Grand Master (Now Zealand Constitution) and members of that Grand Lodge owing to the Grand Lodge of Now Zealand holding its annual communications at Dunedin this week. Lodge Do Burgh Adams, Ngamotu, Sir Donald M‘Lcan, Stratford, and Mon wore well represented, and members from other lodges in Taranaki, as well as from other provincial districts were present. Wor. Bro. W. H. Broome occupied tho chair and received tho visitors. The ancient and sublime ceremony was ably given by Wor. Bro. J. Asher, who placed Bro. William Lints, the W.M.-olect into tho Chair of King Solomon according to ancient custom, assisted by Wor. Pros. G. W. Palmer, D.D.G.M., G. T. Murray, R. O. Ellis, and R. L. M’llroy. The musical part of tho ceremony was with Bro. W. M. Perry (organist), and Bro. E. W. Lewis of Lodge Stratford, Trumpeter.
Tho W.M. invested his officers for the present year as follows:—J.P.M., Wor. Bro. W. H. Broome; Senior Warden, Bro. W. Perry; Junior Warden, Bro. Goo. Griffiths; Treasurer, Wor. Bro. W. 11. Broome; Secretary, Wor. Bro. F. C. J. Bellringer; Chaplain, Rev. J. W. Burton; Director of Ceremonies, Wor. Bro, F. T. Bellringer; Organist, Bro. J. J. F. Gardiner; Senior Deacon, Bro. J. Buttimoro; Junior Deacon, Bro. H. J. M. Wells; Inner Guard, Bro. P. J. H. White; Stewards, Bro. E. H. Carter and Bro. A. T. Coad. At the conclusion of the ceremony an adjournment was made to Brougham Street Hall, where Bro. J. West had prepared an excellent repast. After full justice had been done to the good tilings provided, a toast list was gone through, and at intervals songs were rendered by Bro. W. M. Perry, J. W. Holland Tomson, and W. H. Broome, and recitation by Wor. Bro. Blytii.
