WAREA.
(From Our Own Correspondent.:) May g.—The meeting of the Cape Egmont Horticultural Society, held last week, was not very well attended. Owing to bad weather about the time of the last show, it did not turn out such a financial success as was anticipated. The secretary read a rough statement of accounts, which showed a small credit balance. A dance was held in aid of the hall funds on the Ist, the attendance-being very poor, the result being thdt the ha'll funds will benefit by the large amount of 12s 6d. Mr. Ivnowlcs provided splendid music, and Mr. 1. It. Larking made a capable M.C. Some fancy skating was given during the evening, the M.C. causing considerable amusement on skates. . The skating club is m full swing now having a very fair membership, skating is indulged in every Tuesday and Saturday evenings, the only trouble being that the floor rises up quickly and bits pretty hard, onlookers having 'most of the fun. The weather has taken a turn for the better at last. If we had had much more wet the main road would be almost impassable.
