An informal meeting of influential citizens decided to request tho Lord Mayor to call a meeting of citizens to protest against the Government depriving the Governor-General of his official residence in Sydney. A GAS EXPLOSION. SYDNEY, May 8. A man searching for a gas leakage with a light in a shop at Tamworth canted an explosion. Tho building was completely wrecked. Several people wore seriously injured, and a woman was blown across tho street.
